Blueprints for Hope: The Lance Evan Amato Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer awareness, research, and patient support. Founded in memory of architect and design leader Lance Evan Amato, the foundation focuses on improving outcomes for those facing pancreatic cancer through patient advocacy, access to information, and strategic research funding. In parallel, it supports design education and community initiatives that reflect Lance’s lifelong commitment to mentorship, creativity, and connection.

Lance’s Story

Lance Evan Amato was a visionary architect, devoted father and husband, and a beloved leader in the design community. Over more than two decades, he built a remarkable career rooted in innovative workplace design and thoughtful leadership. Lance was instrumental in shaping national workplace strategies that prioritized human connection and well-being. He played a key role in founding impactful initiatives within the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) New York chapter, helping to foster community, mentorship, and professional growth. His leadership extended beyond design; he was a trusted mentor who inspired countless colleagues and emerging professionals to pursue their best work.

Beyond his professional achievements, Lance’s greatest joy was his family. A proud “girl dad,” he filled everyday moments with dance parties, Halloween costumes, kitchen fashion shows, and late-night meals alongside his daughter Trace and wife Jessica. His energy was magnetic—he made people laugh, feel seen, and part of something bigger. In both life’s celebrations and its quiet moments, he led with humor, humility, and an open heart.

In late 2024, Lance was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Facing this devastating news with courage and relentless optimism. He passed away in early 2025 at just 43 years old, leaving behind a profound legacy and a deep sense of work still to be done. Blueprints for Hope was born to carry that legacy forward—honoring Lance’s spirit by advancing patient advocacy, critical research, educational support, and the powerful connections that defined his life.

The Why Behind the Foundation

Lance was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2024—and passed away only 32 days later. The rapid progression was devastatingly sudden, leaving no time to plan, organize thoughts, or fully grasp the severity of what was happening. The experience was marked by confusion, misinformation, and a deeply difficult journey to navigate for Lance and his family.

This painful reality fuels our foundation’s mission. We are committed to making sure no family faces this battle feeling lost, overwhelmed or without support. Blueprints for Hope exists to provide clear guidance, compassionate patient advocacy, and accessible resources to support patients and their loved ones every step of the way. By easing the confusion and connecting people to the right information and care, we hope to transform this experience for future families—bringing light, hope, and strength where it is needed most.
